The 2018 Event Six Hint #1

The first — and ONLY — clue! Take it away, Headmaster!

Okay folks, this is a short week with the Royal 10k just closing, and our sixth event starting on Saturday at noon EDT, so you’re only getting this ONE CLUE for the theme of the next virtual run.

As for the next charity partner, we’re excited to share this fantastic group with you Friday night at 8 PM EDT.

‘Sharing’ … that’s an appropriate word. People should share. Siblings should share. If one has something that is awesome, their sibling should be able to use it too. Yes, that’s a clue.

Be here tomorrow night for the announcement of our final charity partner for 2018, and bring ALL the tissues.

We recommend PUFFS brand.

Royal 10K Complete!

The Royal 10k campaign has now been officially closed. Thank you to the over 4,200 members who have signed up for the Royal 10k!

With your help, HRC has almost completely funded a full cohort for the 2019 6-week Summer Intensive program. Time Turner registrations and the shirt proceeds will also be added to that final donation with the goal to completely support an entire cohort.

Without members like you, we couldn’t do what we do. Thank you for supporting HRC and All Star Code.

The Royal 10k medals will get packed up the upcoming weekend, and the owls will be released to the skies next Monday!

Royal 10k Midpoint Update

::buzz:: ::crackle::

Are we broadcasting? Okay, perfect. Attention, all who are listening: we are fighting the good fight.

In honor of the veteran Auror and select member of the Advance Guard, Kingsley Shacklebolt, we have been seeing HRC registrations for the Royal 10k doing exceptionally well. Over the span of only two weeks, we have processed over 2,600 registrations, and are already preparing the owls to send over 500 commemorative shirts. All of this great work being done will accomplish #somuchgood for All Star Code, and bring many of you nearer to Prefect status, and your houses that much closer to a possible Hogwarts Cup victory at the year’s end.

The danger that lies ahead? The registration limit. For those who have yet to register, it is critical to remember that this will only be a 5,000-medal event, and at the pace we’re maintaining, odds are very good that the Royal 10k will sell out before the planned registration closing date on August 19.

This is your moment — heed the lynx’s warning. Stay strong, remain vigilant, and run.

Royal 10k Run Day

Royal 10k Update

August 1: Our run date** for the Royal 10k, and a day of infamy in the fandom.

On what should have been a day of celebration and the wedding of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour, Lord Voldemort’s supporters infiltrate, attack, and ultimately topple the Ministry of Magic.

Kingsley Shacklebolt sent his patronus to the wedding festivities, altering them to the attack, and spurring them to action.

So today, we run like the lynx, in honor of this great Auror, and in commune with one another.

** This is a suggested run date, and like all our virtual run events, you can complete your distance whenever and however you choose! We will be sharing photos of runners who tag the #royal10k event on Facebook and Twitter, or who tag us directly “@hogwartsrunningclub” on Instagram, though, if you want to run “with” us on this day!

“Happee Birthdae”, JK and Harry!

We know it so, so well: today is one of the most revered, most commemorated, most ballyhooed days on our Potterhead calendar.

From full-scale shindigs, to magical workplace attire, to bonus runs (right?), to dinner themes, to read-a-thons and viewing parties, there are countless ways to mark the day.

So…how are YOU celebrating the birthdays of the Boy Who Lived, AND the Woman Who Made It All Possible?

Announcing: The Royal 10k!

Our Fifth Event of 2018!

Dumbledore wasn’t the only one who had “style”. The future Minister for Magic was a critical member of the Order of the Phoenix: Kingsley Shacklebolt!

One of the greatest Aurors ever, he helped keep Sirius’ location a secret from the Ministry, saved the members of the D.A. during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, and bravely fought at the Battle of Hogwarts. After Voldemort came to power, he went into hiding, but remained active in the resistance effort, contributing to the Potterwatch radio broadcast under the alias: “Royal”.

In honor of all of his incredible magical efforts, we are using our fifth event to celebrate Kingsley Shacklebolt with an illustrious 3-inch medal, a beautiful sublimated ribbon, and Kingsley-themed digital bib!

Kingsley Shacklebolt showed us that with strong leadership skills, determination, and courage, you can change the world.

Hogwarts Running Club is pleased to announce the charity partner for this event is All Star Code! All Star Code is a nonprofit computer science education organization focused on giving young, intelligent, driven men of color access to the necessary skills to become part of the growing tech world. Few organizations prepare this underserved group for careers in innovations and technology. So, in honor of the most significant HP character of color, HRC is helping All Star Code fund an entire ‘cohort’ of 20 young men of color, enabling them to complete their Summer Intensive Program in 2019.

And don’t forget your event shirt! Join the Department of Magical Movement (Running Division), and the funds will go to support All Star Code!

The suggested run date for the Royal 10k is Wednesday, August 1st, the anniversary of the Fall of the Ministry and the date of Kingsley’s warning to all at Bill and Fleur’s wedding that allowed so many to survive. Remember, this is only a fun suggestion. You are welcome to complete your 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) whenever and however you want!

Registration closes at midnight on August 19th (or early morning on the 20th, depending on your time zone). All medals will be mailed on Monday, August 27th.

Our 2018 Event Five Charity Partner: All Star Code

The Muggle-world is in the midst of an innovation revolution. New devices, applications and other innovations are being created every day…almost like magic.

But there is one group that is getting left behind in learning the skills to “cast” that magic: increasing professional access and STEM education for young men of color is vital to the overall future of the tech sector as well as minority communities.

Hogwarts Running Club is pleased to announce that the charity partner for Event #5 is All Star Code!

All Star Code is a nonprofit computer science education organization focused on giving young, intelligent, driven men of color access to necessary skills so they can be part of the growing tech world. Few organizations prepare this underserved group for careers in innovations and technology, but All Star Code is focused on their futures. They host a 6-week Summer Intensive program (160 young men in 2018)that gives young men of color the computer science skills and confidence they need to kick start a future in technology and innovation. The program is divided into 20-student “cohorts” that get absolutely top-notch instruction from experts…and it’s completely free for the students.

HRC’s goal is to fund an entire “cohort” of 20 young men of color so they can complete All Star Code’s Summer Intensive Program in 2019. We can only accomplish this goal with your help! Check back tomorrow, July 21, at noon EDT for the launch of our fifth event of 2018. Sign up, and help 20 young men reach for their dreams!

The 2018 Event Five Hint #4

This will be your last helpful hint…no, confounding clue…as to the nature of our fifth event of 2018. The Headmaster has been ecstatic reading all the guesses, hypotheses, and wild stabs-in-the-dark thus far. Does this help, or hinder your search for truth?

Tomorrow evening at 8pm EDT marks the announcement of our charity partner, and then noon EDT on Saturday, the veil is lifted — and the event begins!

The 2018 Event Five Hint #3

It seems yesterday’s clue might have stumped a few of you. We use the term “magical word salad” for a reason! We promise you Headmaster is *not* sinister, even though he loves to confuse you!

We hope you are enjoying the week of clues that lead up to the announcement of our newest charity partner on Friday evening, and the official launch of the fifth event on Saturday, July 21st at noon EDT.

Keep the guesses coming!
