Our 2018 Event Six Charity Partner: RODS

Hogwarts Running Club has definitely done #somuchgood over the years. We’ve helped the homeless, we’ve supported refugees, we’ve put legs on amputees, and we’ve eradicated a debilitating disease from an entire country. But this time it’s different. This time we’re not just going to change lives; we’re literally going to save lives.

Hogwarts Running Club is humbled to announce the charity partner for this event is RODS: Racing for Orphans with Down Syndrome! Their mission is simple: they promote the adoption of orphans with Down Syndrome by raising adoption grant funds, one child at a time, and by participating in organized, athletic races and awareness events. They literally run for orphans! The funds they raise cover a large portion of the expense to get children from orphanages in the developing world to forever homes in the US and Canada.

You can learn more about them at rods.org.

Last year, our sister club Whovian Running Club, raised enough funds for one incredible boy named Charlie to get to his forever home. RODS was such an incredible charity partner, we felt we could do even more.

We are 100% certain we can get enough registrations to save five of these amazing children. Getting to six will take some work, but it shouldn’t be a problem. But our goal is SEVEN…and that will take a near-record-breaking effort. But we know you can do it!

Hogwarts Running Club has selected SEVEN orphans to that we are going to get to their forever homes. Over the next few days we’re going to introduce you to Conner, Penny, Keane, Zoey, Parker John, Margaret, and Xena. These three boys and four girls ARE going to get to their forever homes. We will not fail them. We believe in the magic of HRC and we WILL reach our goal.

Registration for Event #6 opens tomorrow at noon EDT.

Let’s get these kids home!

The 2018 Event Six Hint #1

The first — and ONLY — clue! Take it away, Headmaster!

Okay folks, this is a short week with the Royal 10k just closing, and our sixth event starting on Saturday at noon EDT, so you’re only getting this ONE CLUE for the theme of the next virtual run.

As for the next charity partner, we’re excited to share this fantastic group with you Friday night at 8 PM EDT.

‘Sharing’ … that’s an appropriate word. People should share. Siblings should share. If one has something that is awesome, their sibling should be able to use it too. Yes, that’s a clue.

Be here tomorrow night for the announcement of our final charity partner for 2018, and bring ALL the tissues.

We recommend PUFFS brand.

Our 2018 Event Five Charity Partner: All Star Code

The Muggle-world is in the midst of an innovation revolution. New devices, applications and other innovations are being created every day…almost like magic.

But there is one group that is getting left behind in learning the skills to “cast” that magic: increasing professional access and STEM education for young men of color is vital to the overall future of the tech sector as well as minority communities.

Hogwarts Running Club is pleased to announce that the charity partner for Event #5 is All Star Code!

All Star Code is a nonprofit computer science education organization focused on giving young, intelligent, driven men of color access to necessary skills so they can be part of the growing tech world. Few organizations prepare this underserved group for careers in innovations and technology, but All Star Code is focused on their futures. They host a 6-week Summer Intensive program (160 young men in 2018)that gives young men of color the computer science skills and confidence they need to kick start a future in technology and innovation. The program is divided into 20-student “cohorts” that get absolutely top-notch instruction from experts…and it’s completely free for the students.

HRC’s goal is to fund an entire “cohort” of 20 young men of color so they can complete All Star Code’s Summer Intensive Program in 2019. We can only accomplish this goal with your help! Check back tomorrow, July 21, at noon EDT for the launch of our fifth event of 2018. Sign up, and help 20 young men reach for their dreams!

The 2018 Event Five Hint #4

CLUE THE FOURTH!

This will be your last helpful hint…no, confounding clue…as to the nature of our fifth event of 2018. The Headmaster has been ecstatic reading all the guesses, hypotheses, and wild stabs-in-the-dark thus far. Does this help, or hinder your search for truth?

Tomorrow evening at 8pm EDT marks the announcement of our charity partner, and then noon EDT on Saturday, the veil is lifted — and the event begins!

The 2018 Event Five Hint #3

CLUE THE THIRD!

It seems yesterday’s clue might have stumped a few of you. We use the term “magical word salad” for a reason! We promise you Headmaster is *not* sinister, even though he loves to confuse you!

We hope you are enjoying the week of clues that lead up to the announcement of our newest charity partner on Friday evening, and the official launch of the fifth event on Saturday, July 21st at noon EDT.

Keep the guesses coming!

The 2018 Event Five Hint #2

CLUE THE SECOND!

We saw a lot of love for the Weasleys on yesterday’s clue. Does Clue No. 2 help confirm your original guess, or has the Headmaster thrown you off with his magical word salad”?

Each day this week, the HRC Headmaster continues to unveil a new clue for our fifth event of 2018, leading up to the reveal of the Charity Partner on Friday night, and the launch of the event in full at noon EDT on Saturday.

Do your best to maintain sanity and calm, as you pore over these cryptic clues!

The 2018 Event Five Hint #1

CLUE THE FIRST!

Yes! It’s the Headmaster’s favorite week! Each day this week, the HRC Headmaster will unveil a new clue for Event Number Five, leading up to the reveal of the Charity Partner on Friday night, and the launch of the event in full at noon EDT on Saturday, July 21.

Now…for the new folks: all of these clues are SUPER EASY. They are all very straight forward, and can be solved effortlessly. We also have a sale right now on the Brooklyn Bridge. Everyone can get their own Brooklyn Bridge. You can get two bridges if you’d like. (The Internet really needs a font called “Sarcastica”.)

Putting it another way, the Headmaster dances with sinister glee, as students struggle to figure out his maniacal, magical word salad. Just do your best to figure out the clues, and figure out the next event!

The Half-Giant Half Is Complete!

The Half-Giant Half is complete, and you’ve done EXCEPTIONALLY well from the first day, to the final hours of registration website craziness.

A poll is going up in the Great Hall to have a say in the resulting “dare-oke” challenge! We’ll be at the ConnectiCon event this weekend! The Headmaster and Bosswitch will be on a Potter fandom panel at SDCC next week!

And dare we mention? (We dare! We dare!) Next week, you have the FIFTH event barreling at you like a rogue bludger!

And you thought this was going to be a nice, calm, relaxing summer…
